MEDICATION REQUESTS
Due to patient safety and capacity issues we have had to take the decision to stop receiving requests for repeat medication over the telephone.
We apologise for any inconvenience but there are a number of ways in which you may order your repeat prescriptions which will enable access for all of our patients:
- NHS App – you can download an App to your Smartphone and self-verify your identity using your passport or photo driving licence. You can then get information regarding coronavirus, order repeat medication, make appointments (when we are able to offer open access), get health information and much more
- Patient Access – if you are unable to access the NHS App, you can collect a form from the dispensary window to complete and return with your identity documents for us to verify
- You can drop your repeat slip off at Rowlands Pharmacy
- You can drop your repeat slip off in the White box on the front wall of the surgery (available 24 hours)
- You can post your request to the Surgery – 10 Pump Street, Bromyard HR7 4BZ
- Email your requests to nunwell.dispensary@nhs.net - please ensure you include your name, date of birth, first line of address, the exact medication you require and when you will need them.
We are working on a way that you can place your order for the following month when you collect your medication but please bear with us while we put this in place.
MEDICATION COLLECTION
We have moved the Dispensary hatch BACK into the waiting room, 9am-12noon and 2pm-6pm.
We would appreciate it if you could make payments by card wherever possible.
As of January 2024 all prescriptions and report payments from our Dispensary will be CARD ONLY. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
IBUPROFEN AND OTHER NON-STEROIDAL ANTI-INFLAMMATORY DRUGS
There is currently no evidence but theories support the suspicion that Ibuprofen may worsen covid-19 symptoms. We would therefore advise patients to avoid this for acute pain and instead use Paracetamol - following guidelines for maximum doses. Patients who take Ibuprofen for chronic pain should stay on their medication currently but we would advise that if you develop symptoms of COVID-19 that you stop them and find alternative pain relief medication.
Electronic Prescription Service
Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) allows practices in England to produce prescriptions electronically. These are digitally signed by a GP or nurse and sent electronically to the “nominated” pharmacy you choose, saving you time and as the prescription is an electronic message there is no paper prescription to lose. You will also have more choice about where to get your medicines from because they can be collected from a pharmacy near to where you live, work or shop. If the prescription needs to be cancelled, the GP or nurse can electronically cancel and issue a new prescription without you having to return to the surgery – saving you extra trips.
Repeat Dispensing
If you are on stable, regular medication you may be able to get prescriptions without having to contact the surgery every month. Ask your GP or Dispensary staff about this if you think you may be suitable for repeat dispensing.
How Long to Process my Request? Please allow THREE FULL WORKING DAYS for your request to be processed.

Medication Reviews
If you have repeat prescriptions, your medication will need to be reviewed regularly by one of our Doctors. It is really important that this is done to make sure you are on the best possible treatment. You may see a request printed on your repeat prescription asking you to make an appointment to see your Doctor regarding your medication or one of the Dispensers or the Pharmacist will ask you.
If you have not contacted the Surgery, you may be given a reduced supply of medication, and you will be reminded to discuss your medication with your Doctor.
You will also be invited to the Surgery for an annual check around the month of your Birthday. as soon as possible. The medication review will be the last part of the check once you have been seen by the health care assistant and/or nurse as required.
