Seasonal Flu and COVID Vaccines

Flu & COVID Vaccine Clinics for patients aged 18+ – Autumn 2024

This year, Nunwell Surgery will once again be holding vaccination clinics at Queen Elizabeth High School for both the Flu and COVID Autumn Boosters for eligible patients aged 18+.

Vaccination is a high priority action for the NHS, to protect people from serious illness and to support NHS and adult social care resilience.

When will I be offered my vaccination? The surgery will be delivering seasonal flu vaccinations from October 2024. You will be contacted when it’s time for you to come forward for your vaccination (if eligible)

Why not until October? That seems late. Evidence suggests that October and November are the best months to have your flu vaccination. Any earlier and you won’t be as well protected against the flu.

What do I need to do? Please wait until you are contacted by the surgery. If you haven’t heard from us by mid-September, please let us know.

Who will be offered a vaccination this year?*

  • Adults aged 65 years and over
  • Adults aged 18-65 in specific clinical risk groups
  • Pregnant patients
  • Those in long term residential care homes
  • Carers in receipt of carer’s allowance, or those who are the main carer of an elderly or disabled person
  • Close contacts of immunocompromised individuals
  • Frontline workers in a social care setting and frontline healthcare workers

More information on vaccine eligibility can be found at:

It is worth nothing that we are only vaccinating patients aged 18+ at our Queen Elizabeth High School Clinics. See below for more information for patients aged 6 months to 17 years.

Booking your vaccine:

Please wait until you receive your invite before booking your appointment.

Invites will be sent by a text where possible (with a link to book your own vaccine) or by letter.

There will be an option on our telephone line main menu to book your flu and covid vaccines. This will be open:

Monday – Friday

11am – 12noon or

3pm – 4pm

Please note: we will only be offering one appointment per patients. If you wish to receive your vaccines separately, we please ask that your book in for your flu vaccine but arrange your COVID vaccine elsewhere.

If you believe you are eligible but have not received your invite by 25th September, please email [email protected] or submit an online query here – Online Services – Nunwell Surgery

Nasal Flu Vaccines for patients under 18

Patients under 18 can be booked directly into the surgery for their nasal flu vaccines.

Eligible patients are:

Children aged 2-3yrs

Children aged 6 months – 17 years in a clinical risk group.

Please note: your child may need the seasonal flu injection rather than the nasal vaccine depending on their age and conditions. Our practice nurses will be able to determine which vaccine is required.

We will not be completing COVID vaccines for patients under the age of 18 due to the differences in the vaccine. These will need to be booked via the National Booking System.

Booking a COVID-19 Vaccine via the National Booking System

If you wish to book your COVID vaccine elsewhere, the National Booking System will go live for patients later this season
