Repeat Prescriptions

You may order your regular medication online via the link at the top of this page or by posting your repeat slip back to us in the collection box provided.  If you are not able to use these methods you may order by telephoning Dispensary.

If you need your medication in an emergency when the dispensary is closed, you can receive an emergency supply at the discretion of a Pharmacist for 3 days (5 days over a bank holiday). You will need to provide proof of your identity and your repeat medications e.g. your repeat ordering slip.

Electronic Prescription Service

Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) allows practices in England to produce prescriptions electronically. These are digitally signed by a GP or nurse and sent electronically to the “nominated” pharmacy you choose, saving you time and as the prescription is an electronic message there is no paper prescription to lose. You will also have more choice about where to get your medicines from because they can be collected from a pharmacy near to where you live, work or shop. If the prescription needs to be cancelled, the GP or nurse can electronically cancel and issue a new prescription without you having to return to the surgery – saving you extra trips.

Repeat Dispensing

If you are on stable, regular medication you may be able to get prescriptions without having to contact the surgery every month. Ask your GP or Dispensary staff about this if you think you may be suitable for repeat dispensing.

Medication Reviews

If you have repeat prescriptions, your medication will need to be reviewed regularly by one of our Doctors. It is really important that this is done to make sure you are on the best possible treatment. You may see a request printed on your repeat prescription asking you to make an appointment to see your Doctor regarding your medication or one of the Dispensers or the Pharmacist will ask you.

If you have not contacted the Surgery, you may be given a reduced supply of medication, and you will be reminded to discuss your medication with your Doctor.

You will also be invited to the Surgery for an annual check around the month of your Birthday. as soon as possible. The medication review will be the last part of the check once you have been seen by the health care assistant and/or nurse as required.
